Decoder
Teleprinter, Morse and digital modes scrolling on a green phosphor display, with an LED tuning bar.
The radio's text decoders on a green phosphor teleprinter. The module is on while one of them runs, whoever started it: these keys, the panel's DATA key or the operator. Switching it off stops the decoder.
In CW the speed and the pitch find themselves and follow the sender. In RTTY the centre and the polarity set themselves; MARK and SPACE appear above the bar. AFC follows a single signal, while FT8 reads the whole passband every 15 seconds. The 21-LED bar shows the signal against the decoder's centre.
